Realme GT Review: Perfect Smartphone with Flagship Processor

After the successful release of the Realme GT Neo smartphone, the Chinese brand decided to release a slightly improved version called Realme GT.

I can easily classify the device in the flagship category, since the real flagship Snapdragon 888 processor lies at the heart of the smartphone. But is the device as good as the manufacturer assures us? I will share with you about all aspects and nuances in a detailed and in-depth test below.

Now let’s talk about the cost, as it really surprised me. That is, at the time of this writing, the price tag for the new model of the Realme GT smartphone was only $430.

In addition to the flagship chipset, the smartphone from Realme has received a small 6.43-inch Super AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. The main camera module has a resolution of 64-megapixels. Also, inside the body of the smartphone, you can find a battery with a capacity of 4500mAh and support for fast charging at 65W of power.

Well, the new smartphone model really looks like a real flagship. Only now the price tag of almost $400 can greatly please any future client. So, I can’t wait to start inspecting the device from Realme and so let’s get started.

Unboxing and packaging

A new model of the Realme GT smartphone is delivered in a rather unusual package. That is, the box itself was made of black cardboard, but the dimensions of the package were very cumbersome.

Only model names and 5G logo can be found on the front of the package.

During unpacking, the first thing that meets me is a long box. In which I found a protective transparent silicone case, instructions for use and a needle for a SIM tray.

Slightly below the smartphone itself is located directly in a protective transport film. A Type-C charging cable could be seen next to it. But under the smartphone itself you can find a rather large and powerful 65W power adapter. In general, I really liked the equipment, so I propose to start examining our hero and find out how well it was assembled and executed.

Design, build quality and materials

Realme offers several color options for the GT model to choose from. The first option is a glass version of the body, and the second is a leather substitute. In the protective glass, the smartphone comes in gray or blue, but in the leather version it is yellow-black.

As for me, the leather device looks more like a gaming smartphone. But in glass design it looks like a regular premium smartphone.

As for the build quality, I had no special comments, all the components were perfectly fitted and had no extraneous and unnecessary sounds. Here I should note that there is no protection against water or splashes in the Realme GT device.

As for the dimensions and weight, the smartphone received the following dimensions – it is 158.5 x 73.3 x 8.4 mm, and the model weighs about 186 grams. Given its small size and weight, it was comfortable for me to hold the smartphone in one hand.

On the back is the main camera module with three sensors and an LED flash. Also, the brand logo of the Realme company flaunts here. In the meantime, a fingerprint scanner has been built into the device’s screen. It has pretty good responsiveness and finger recognition accuracy.

The right side of the smartphone comes with a single power button. But on the opposite side, there is a volume rocker and a slot for dual nano SIM cards. There is one rather strong drawback here – the lack of a memory card slot.

The bottom end of the Realme GT device received a main speaker, Type-C connection, a headphone hole and a 3.5 mm audio jack. At the top, there is one microphone for noise reduction. In addition, the device has one more additional speaker, which was built into the earpiece. Therefore, stereo sound is used here.

If we talk about stereo sound, then the model of the GT smartphone made me very happy. That is, the sound quality was excellent. The volume was very sufficient and there was also good and deep bass.

Screen and image quality

Based on the sports and gaming name, the Realme GT device received a very good, one might say, gaming screen. For example, the smartphone comes with a 120 Hz screen refresh rate, and in addition, the manufacturer has installed an AMOLED matrix in the device’s screen.

At the same time, the screen dimensions were 6.43 inches and the device received a resolution with Full HD + or 1080 x 2400 pixels. The aspect ratio is in the range of 20: 9, and the pixel density per inch is 409 PPI. Also, the usable area occupied by the screen on the front part was 85.9%.

In terms of technical specifications, the screen looks very cool, given its low cost. But how he showed itself in real life, let’s talk about its capabilities in more detail.

The color rendering of the screen on the Realme GT smartphone looked pretty good. Each color had the right hue, and the contrast was pretty good and the blacks were really black.

In the settings of the user interface screen, you can control the following sections. For example, this is to install the Always-On Display function, choose a black theme, choose a color rendition and much more.

Performance, benchmarks, games and OS

A Snapdragon 888 processor with support for 5G networks was installed on board the Realme GT smartphone. This is a true flagship chipset that delivers incredible performance in real life.

Yes, as I said earlier, the problem with the new Snapdragon 888 processor is its heating. The same problem can be found on the GT model as well. During the benchmark tests, the device heated up to 45 degrees, and the processor itself reached a temperature of 60 degrees Celsius.

Below I will leave an album with the results of various benchmarks, and you can compare them with your smartphone or competitors.

In terms of gaming capabilities, the Realme GT device is paired with the Adreno 660 graphics accelerator. In real life, any games will be available to you with maximum graphics. Yes, I was able to play Genshin Impact on medium graphics settings and I did not find any performance problems. In addition, 120 Hz screen frequency will allow you to enjoy the gameplay with very smooth and fast movements of the game character.

I have a version on the test with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory in UFS 3.1 format. At the same time, the read speed showed the result of 1160 MBps, and the write speed was about 260 MBps. But one problem for me is the lack of a slot for a microSD memory card.

If we talk about wireless communication, then the GT smartphone received Bluetooth 5.2, a 6-generation dual-band Wi-Fi module, GPS and even an NFC module. At the same time, all modules worked properly and not even badly.

In terms of the operating system, everything was also good here, since the smartphone under Android 11 is controlled with the Realme UI 2.0 user interface. During my testing, I didn’t have any major latency issues. That said, all applications opened quickly, and the 120Hz screen frequency allowed me to get a very smooth user interface experience.

Camera and sample photos

On the new model of the Realme GT smartphone, the manufacturer installed the main camera module with a resolution of 64 megapixels with an aperture of f/1.8. The quality of the photos, both in the daytime and at night, was very good. You can see examples of photos in the album below.

The second camera module has a resolution of 8 megapixels, and it was created for ultra wide shots. The photo capture angle was 119 degrees. I also liked the quality of the photos, as the corners were not very blurry and had good detail. The third camera module is used for macro shots and has only 2 megapixel resolution.

The front camera has a 16-megapixel module with an f/2.5 aperture. The quality of photos in good lighting was very good, but in poor lighting, a little grain appeared in the photos and detail dropped.

The main camera is capable of recording video in 4K resolution and at 60 or 30 frames per second. But on the selfie camera, the maximum resolution was 1080p and 30 frames per second.

Battery and charging time

Considering that the new Realme GT smartphone has a 120 Hz screen with the flagship Snapdragon 888 processor, you shouldn’t expect high battery life.

Realme GT Review: Perfect Smartphone with Flagship Processor

A battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh was built inside the body of the device. During my testing, the smartphone was able to work exactly one working day. But if you use your smartphone in economy mode, that is, with a 60 Hz refresh rate, you may be able to achieve 1.5-2 days of operation on a single battery charge.

The other most important feature for me was the availability of fast charging thanks to the 65W power adapter. For example, from 5 to 100% the device was charged in just 31 minutes, and this is very fast, as for a modern smartphone.

Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons

After a complete and in-depth examination of the Realme GT smartphone, I can definitely say that the device is 100% worth your attention.

Realme GT Review: Perfect Smartphone with Flagship Processor

This is an excellent smartphone model that has all the aspects of being a flagship device, including even the processor and the amount of memory. Yes, the smartphone also received a very colorful AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Another positive aspect I can highlight is the excellent workmanship and good materials used. In addition, I liked how the main camera module shoots, the photos turned out to be bright and detailed. In addition, the presence of fast charging, which can charge the device in half an hour, will be very useful for many future users.

But the disadvantages are typical, as for most average budget devices. For example, the smartphone is not splash and water resistant, and I was not particularly impressed with the battery life.

Price and where to buy cheaper?

Currently, the price tag for the Realme GT smartphone is very attractive, which was only $433.20 for the basic version.

Directly, I can recommend a new model from Realme for purchase with a light heart. It’s a fun smartphone with good performance and a decent design.
