Today I have another smartphone from Oukitel and, as you might have guessed, this is a new rugged smartphone called Oukitel WP13.
Not surprisingly, the Oukitel brand focuses on rugged devices. Since I have already tested previous models from this manufacturer earlier and was completely satisfied with the work of various models.
As for the new generation of rugged smartphone, the device has some interesting features. For example, the WP13 smartphone model has received full protection from water, drops, and dust. Also, the smartphone was equipped on board with a temperature measurement sensor and has support for a 5G network.
You might think that today’s hero will be very expensive. But in fact, this is a small delusion, since the Oukitel WP13 smartphone will cost the future user only $199. This is a really sweet suggestion and let me tell you why.
For example, the heart in a rugged device is the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor with 5G network support. Another smartphone is distinguished by the presence of 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. The device also received triple camera modules with a 48-megapixel main sensor.
Naturally, the smartphone was equipped with a large 6.52 inch IPS screen with HD+ resolution. Inside the body of the device is a pretty good 5280mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
Excellent, in terms of technical features, the rugged smartphone from Oukitel turned out to be very good. Therefore, I suggest starting my full review to find out the main advantages and disadvantages of the freshly baked model.

Unboxing and packaging
The smartphone comes in a rather large white package. At the same time, the box itself was made of thick and dense cardboard, and therefore the smartphone came to me for the test and without any damage. On the front of the package, there was no picture of the device, but only the name of the company and the designation of support for the 5G network.
If I unpack the packaging, then inside I found the following components – this is the smartphone itself. It had a protective transport film with the main features indicated, which I already described at the beginning of the review.
There was also a needle for a SIM tray under the device. But on the right side, there is a charging adapter with a power of 18W and a Type-C cable. In addition, there was also a manual in the package bundle, and in addition, the manufacturer put an adapter from Type-C to 3.5 mm jack.
As for a rugged device, the scope of delivery is very standard and there are no standout components. Therefore, now I propose to take a closer look at the device and check how well it was assembled.
Design, build quality and materials
The main problem of almost any rugged smartphone is its size and weight. And the new generation of the device from Oukitel is no exception. That is, the dimensions of the Oukitel WP13 smartphone were 176 x 85.2 x 14.5 mm and the device weighs about 300 grams.
In fact, this is a rather large smartphone and it will be problematic to operate it in real life. But after two weeks of testing, I was so accustomed to this smartphone that I did not want to part with it. Even after these days, taking my everyday smartphone, it seemed to me negligible and kind of a toy.
In terms of build quality, the Oukitel WP13 smartphone was perfectly assembled. For example, during my test, I did not detect any extraneous sounds and squeaks. All buttons were pressed with good responsiveness and even after endurance tests, the device worked without any difficulty.
Yes, I also want to say that I tested this smartphone model under water and even tested it under the sand. After my endurance tests, the smartphone worked properly and did not have any difficulties during use.
The back of the rugged smartphone received a very nice rubberized plastic in its design. In addition, all corners were fully protected with rubber material. Therefore, even when dropped from a great height, the device is able to survive. But on the front of the device, Corning Gorilla Glass is used. I can also highlight the metal elements on the side ends of the device. This also makes the smartphone more resistant to drops and other troubles.
It is also worth noting that on the back of the device, there is a main camera with three modules and an LED flash. It also uses a body temperature sensor.
As my practice has shown, this sensor measures body temperature very accurately and the indicators did not differ from a medical thermometer. In addition, I liked the design of the main camera module, which stands out quite a lot compared to other models of rugged devices.
Ok, now I propose to go through the main control buttons and other external connectors. For example, on the right side of the Oukitel WP13 device, there is a volume rocker with a power button. Also, the power button was combined with a fingerprint scanner. At the same time, the scanner itself worked very accurately and, most importantly, quickly.
But on the opposite side, that is, on the left side, there is already a combined slot for dual nano SIM cards or one SIM card and a memory card. Just below the slot, there is an additional button to activate any function you like. For example, you can launch a flashlight, turn on the camera or any other feature in your smartphone through this button.
If you look at the bottom end of the device, you can find a plug under which the Type-C charging connection is hidden. Also on the same edge, there is one speaker and a hole for a microphone. As for the sound quality, the maximum volume level was very good, but it would be very difficult for me to call the sound quality. That is, the high frequencies were strongly pronounced and therefore I lacked a smoother and more melodic sound.
Okay, I think I figured out the appearance, now I propose to talk about the quality of the screen and its main functions and settings.
Screen and image quality
A 6.52-inch screen was installed on board the Oukitel WP13 rugged smartphone. This screen received a native HD+ resolution or 720 x 1600 pixels. As for an inexpensive device, this is a good IPS screen. For example, the image quality will not be very clear, but the color reproduction of colors was at a decent level.
In addition, I liked the wide viewing angles and even the maximum brightness value was enough for comfortable viewing the screen outdoors in bright sunny weather. As for the contrast level, I cannot call it high, since the black color was not very deep and had a slight shade of gray.
In the screen settings, you can find the following useful features such as night mode, reading mode and even a dark theme function. But the Always-On Display function is not here, since this is not an AMOLED matrix. Overall, given the cost of the device, I can’t say the screen quality was bad. This is an average screen with good color rendering and good brightness values.
Performance, benchmarks, games and OS
As I said earlier, the modern budget processor MediaTek Dimensity 700 is responsible for the performance of the new model of the rugged Oukitel WP13 device. This is not the first time I have tested smartphones with this particular chipset, and during all this time I was completely satisfied with its work.
Let me remind you that it is based on eight cores, two fast ARM Cortex-A76 with a frequency of 2.2 GHz and six energy efficient ones with a frequency of 2.0 GHz.
As for the test results of various benchmarks, you can see an album with examples of screenshots below. From myself, I can say that the device scored about 310 thousand points in the well-known AnTuTu test. Agree, the result is very solid, as for a smartphone of this level.
As for the gaming abilities, the video accelerator ARM Mali-G57 MC2 is responsible for the graphics. Yes, maybe this is not the best video accelerator, but on my test the device ran all heavy games, including Genshin Impact.
It is also worth mentioning that usually smartphones with a Dimensity 700 processor have Full HD resolution, but this rugged smartphone only received HD+ resolution. This means that in games, the FPS value will be higher for the Oukitel WP13 model, since the load on the screen will be half as much.
Other than that, I liked the amount of built-in memory. The smartphone was equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Out of the box, the device had about 119 GB of free memory, which is really a lot even for everyday measurements. Also, you can easily install a memory card if the built-in memory is not enough for you. At the same time, the read speed of the built-in memory was about 940 MBps, and the recording speed was 220 MBps.
Among other features of a rugged smartphone, I can single out the presence of a dual-band Wi-Fi module. Also, the smartphone received a Bluetooth 5.1 version, a GPS module, and there is even a module for NFC contactless payment. As you can see, almost any rugged smartphone has an NFC module, whatever its configuration. This is actually their main feature and it will definitely be useful for most users.
As for the operating system, the Oukitel WP13 smartphone is controlled by the latest version of Android 11. It is practically a stock operating system, but the user interface has several useful applications in it.
For example, there are applications such as children’s mode, where usually the child can only play games or watch cartoons. There is also a mode for seniors, which contains large cells with large print. That is, here you can select only those applications and functions that you need.
In general, the user interface has received quite bright colors of icons and wallpapers. And all the features work quickly and without much slowdown. Therefore, it was a pleasure to manage WP13 smartphones during my testing. Okay, now let’s talk about cameras and their features.
Camera and sample photos
The main camera on the protected Oukitel WP13 smartphone received three sensors. Where the main model has a 48MP sensor, a second 2MP sensor for macro photography and a 0.3MP sensor for portrait mode. Since this is a Chinese smartphone, it is not surprising that the last two sensors were created, as it were, for beauty and attention. Therefore, my interest lies only in the main 48MP sensor and let’s talk about it in more detail.
If you look at the quality of the photos below, you can see that it was pretty good in bright light. But in low light, the quality of photos drops significantly. But I don’t think the quality of the photos matters much when choosing a secure device, do I?
In the camera application, I found the following modes – video shooting, photo shooting, panorama, beauty, bokeh and manual mode. In addition, in the photo mode, you can choose two sub modes – this is normal and macro. There are also useful features like AI, HDR and other features. At the same time, the maximum video resolution was 2K or 2560 x 1440 pixels, which is actually good.
The front side of the device uses an 8MP selfie camera. But I cannot call it high-quality, since it will be quite problematic to make a more or less clear photo, and this is in good lighting.
Battery and run time
Another positive feature of the Oukitel WP13 smartphone model is its autonomous operation due to the built-in 5280 mAh battery. For everyday measurements, this is typical capacity, as for most mid-budget smartphones.
But given the low screen resolution and good processor optimization, you can easily expect a battery life of 2 days. This was the case during my testing. That is, the device easily worked for 2 full days with active testing. But if you only make calls and rarely check messages from instant messengers, then the device can work even for 3-4 days.
The full charge time, however, is not that fast. Yes, there is fast charging with a power of 18W and a full charge of the device in my case took about 2.5 hours.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
After full testing of the Oukitel WP13 rugged smartphone, I was left under a good impression. But this model of the device also has disadvantages.
First, let me talk about the positive aspects, and then go through the negative aspects of the device. For example, the smartphone from Oukitel has really got a good design, especially if you look at the back of the device. I also liked the materials used and the workmanship.
The main feature of any rugged device is its full protection against water, dust and falls. The smartphone coped well with these difficulties, and after minor tests the device worked properly and without any questions.
To other points I can attribute this rather bright screen with good color reproduction. The smartphone also received a modern Dimensity 700 processor with 5G network support and a large amount of internal memory of 8 and 128 GB. The main camera module on 48-MP also performed well and took quite rich and clear photos.
Okay, now let’s go over the main disadvantages of the device. The first is, of course, not the highest screen resolution, only HD +. Also, the smartphone does not have an ultra wide sensor and the front camera did not take the best photos. Well, I can also attribute a minor minus not the fastest charging time of the device.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Given its technical features and main purpose, the price tag for a rugged smartphone model is very humane. That is, you are currently able to purchase the Oukitel WP13 device at a low price for only $199.99 with a 30% discount.
This is a really good smartphone with good performance and complete protection from various troubles or harsh conditions of use.
