Nokia X6: Unboxing and Packaging
We received the Nokia X6 phone in a square and color box for review.
On the front side, we see a picture of the Nokia X6 phone, on the back side there are characteristics of the device, but we have them in Chinese.
Since we ordered a phone from China, this is obvious, but I want to mention that the phone has an Android One system and there are all languages available, as in the global version.
Let’s open the box and see what’s inside.
Here we see the X6 phone itself in a protective film. Below are a protective case and instruction in Chinese with a guarantee.
To the left of the phone, there is a separate box with a charger and a Type-C cable.
In general, this is the standard equipment for the phone with price tags of $200.
Nokia X6: Design and Appearance
The Nokia X6 in our analisis will not necessarily blow your eyes, but at least it will catch your eye. Its design is indeed very sober, but well built.
On its front, we find especially its large screen of 5.8 inches with a notch that takes most of all, and whose corners are rounded like the last iPhone X or Huawei P20 Pro. Two symmetrical borders are still present.
At the bottom, it is perfectly empty. At the top with a notch, it incorporates the front photosensor, a large grille for the speaker, a discreet flash, and an ambient light sensor.
It’s his back that will perhaps be the most noticed, for lack of a dual photosensor arranged exactly like that of the iPhone X or Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s.
It is very protruding but does not stain on the back of solid black glass appearance and very pleasant to the touch.
Well in the center is the fingerprint sensor, placed where the finger rests naturally, as it should.
Further down, the rather discreet Nokia logo overlooks the few mandatory legal inscriptions.
The volume and lock buttons are on the right edge, while the dual-SIM or SIM + micro SD door is on the left.
At the top of the Nokia phone in our review are the noise reduction microphone and an infrared sensor.
At the bottom of Nokia X6, we find in the order the 3.5 mm headphone jack, the microphone of conversation, the charging port in USB Type-C port and a single speaker grille.
Nokia X6: Screen
For your beautiful eyes, the Nokia X6 2018 is equipped with a good 5.8-inch IPS LCD screen supporting a maximum definition in Full HD Plus and 19: 9 aspect ratio, which naturally gives 2280 by 1080 pixels.
Because it is equipped with an ambient color temperature sensor, the Nokia X6 in the test is able to adapt its screen settings on the fly to match the lighting in your environment.
These eye-to-eye impressions are therefore provided with this automatic setting activated in a halogen-lit office.
To the eye, the Nokia X6 seems to have a very good screen. The colors are well contrasted without being too forced, and I do not notice any color dominating the other.
Nothing seems burned, but everything is cold enough. The maximum brightness also seems very good and easy to use in direct sunlight.
For our probe, we switched to the default color mode without adaptation. His measurements tell us that the average color temperature is actually quite cold at 7600K, which is in the guns of what it is currently doing.
If you prefer more natural colors, options are fortunately easily accessible in the phone settings.
The phone still does not lack color, and almost completely covers the sRGB space. As we can see, he still favors bruises. LCD helping, its viewing angles are excellent.
NOKIA X6: Hardware and Performance
The couple Snapdragon 636 and 4 GB of RAM never gave me anything to complain about a classic use. On the contrary: the relative lightness of the Android 8.0 interface makes NOKIA X6 file between the spots without showing any sign of weakness in the full details. At this price, it’s still excellent.
Let’s move on to something more greedy: the games. On Arena of Valor, the IPSE mode is unfortunately not available.
And it’s amazing since the game has the 30 fps perfectly stable with graphics settings pushed to the maximum.
So let’s move on to PUBG Mobile, another popular mobile game of the moment. The title defaults to the lowest graphics, and we recommend that you stay there.
Indeed, PUBG Mobile is quite stable but suffers a few falls from time to time all the same. Nevertheless, it is pleasant to play and touching frags will not be a problem.
New game in 3D sum quite greedy, Dragon Ball Legends passes also without any problem.
The best part of all this is that the NOKIA X6 does not heat up the world: it is really a playmate of choice.
NOKIA X6: Software
As you know, NOKIA phones take advantage of the manufacturer’s historical interface: stock Android. This is based on the latest major Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Note the security patch dated August 2018, so it is somewhat late.
Here, all applications are displayed on the desktop, and the system is reworked to be more graphically pleasing than the average. It must be admitted that its large colors are seductive.
For the rest, there are many services and applications that often come duplicate with preinstalled Google applications. NOKIA has its own ecosystem of services, this situation is quite natural but can be frustrating.
Note especially as software add on the NOKIA X6 2018 in the review the ability to activate gesture navigation. With a slide from bottom to top, you can go back to the home.
By remaining supported at the end of the same gesture, you find the applications in progress.
And finally, dragging from the edge to the left or the right allows you to make precedent. This system is very intuitive and well designed, making it adapt very quickly.
NOKIA X6: Camera
To ensure successful photos, the Nokia X6 has the quality camera in the analisis is equipped with a 16-megapixel main photosensor with 1.0 μm pixels and a lens opening in f/2.0. It is supported by a second 5-megapixel sensor used to analyze depth for portrait mode.
In good light conditions and in broad daylight, it is impossible to complain about the performance of the sensor, quite the opposite.
The colors are right, the dynamics assured, and the sharpness of the image is really very good. Hat on this point: it will be hard to find anything to criticize.
In low light, on the other hand, we feel that the photosensor of the NOKIA X6 in the test begins to struggle, as is natural to see on smartphones in this price segment.
The noise is much more present, and the image loses in sharpness as the light diminishes. Nevertheless, the colors are still well respected, and the result is not extremely unpleasant as long as we do not zoom too much in the image.
The portrait mode provided by its double photosensor is very good, with a good appreciation of distances, the blur to be applied accordingly and a good detection of the contours.
At the front, it’s a 16-megapixel sensor with pixels of 1.0μm and a lens opening in f/2.0 that will do justice to your faces. As expected, the result is very good in daylight, and much smoother and noisy in low light.
The bokeh effect is also available at the front, allowing you to make your own portraits. This one is purely software but fulfills very well its office as long as you are not against the light since the HDR cannot be activated in this mode.
General, and especially at this price, it must be admitted that this NOKIA X6 camera review gets away on the high average. Its low-light rendering and the quality of its portrait mode are above par on this range.
NOKIA X6: Battery
To ensure comfortable autonomy, the NOKIA X6 in details is equipped with a 3060 mAh battery.
In use, the Nokia X6 impresses. It is difficult to see its battery percentage really decrease on a daily basis, and its standby mode is particularly powerful.
At stake, consumption is, of course, faster but not extravagant, even in the top of the basket of what it is currently.
With its score, the NOKIA X6 is among the first in the class. Note however that it takes a while to load (about 1.5 hours), for good of a power supply compatible with the Quick Charge automatically provided.
NOKIA X6: Conclusions and Reviews
The NOKIA X6 in our review has a little bit of everything to please. Its design is successful and well finished, its cameras are very good for their price and it has excellent autonomy. In short: at this price, we would try to go ahead without warning.
Remains that at this price, it is difficult to find really better. In the photo, it exceeds a hair Honor 9 Lite. On the autonomy, it exceeds a hair Moto G6 Play.
It’s really about the overall experience that you will have to decide. You will have an excellent quality/price ratio, maybe even the best.
