Today I have a fairly interesting model of smart watches called Microwear L16 on my review. In appearance, they very much resemble the Huawei Watch GT.
The Chinese brand Microwear decided to follow in the footsteps of Huawei and put on the market a similar version of the Watch GT model. What are the differences between these watches, let’s find out in a detailed review.
The first thing I wanted to pay attention to was the price. Currently Microwear L16 will cost you up to $ 30. The price tag on the Huawei Watch GT starts at $ 250. Therefore, the price tag is more than 8 times.
The main features of the Microwear smartwatch are the large 1.3-inch TFT color touch screen, the integrated Realtel RTL8762C chipset, Bluetooth 5.0, large 290 mAh battery capacity and IP68 waterproof housing.
Before I talk about the main functions, advantages and disadvantages, I want to start the test with a complete set and appearance.
Microwear L16: Specifications
|Screen:||1.3 inch TFT screen with 360 by 360 pixels|
|Sensor:||Heart-rate monitor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer|
|IP standart:||IP68 waterproof|
|Standby time:||up to 7 days|
|Size:||54.2 x 45.5 x 13.2 mm|
The Microwear L16 smartwatch comes in a small, nameless box. On the front part you can find only the inscription Smart Wear, I did not find any more company designations or even technical specifications.
Inside the box I found – the watch itself, which lay in a protective foam. At the bottom of the box is a charging magnetic cable and instructions for use.
Expect more is not worth it, since the original price is already adequate. I also want to note that for a small price of a couple of dollars, you can additionally order a metal strap.
As I said, the look of the Microwear L16 is very much like the flagship watch from Huawei.
The diameter of the circumference of the watch was about 45.5 mm, a height of about 54 mm, and a thickness of 13.2 mm. The weight of the watch is not big about 55 grams.
On the wrist, a smart watch looks pretty nice and at first glance it is very difficult to assess the cost of this model. Naturally, watches are more suitable for men, since they will look tricky on a female hand.
The watch case is made of black metal alloy, but the back of the watch is made of plastic. Build quality at a fairly high level. In addition, given its low cost, I have no complaints about the materials and build quality.
On the front of the Microwear L16 is a large 1.3-inch color TFT screen with a sensor. It has frames around the case and I would prefer it to be a little smaller.
The screen quality is not as bright as for example with an AMOLED screen, but the resolution and pixel density are very high. For example, a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels, given the small size of 1.3 inches, can be considered ratina.
The brightness is pretty good and you can use the watch even in bright sunny weather, but you need to set the brightness level to the maximum.
On the back of the wearable device, you can find a two-pin contact for charging and a heart rate sensor.
The Microwear L16 smartwatch is water resistant thanks to the IP68 standard. You can swim in them in the pool or take a shower without any problems. But diving more than 1.5 meters with the clock is not worth it.
As I already mentioned, the strap can be ordered in silicone, leather or metal material. The choice is quite wide, as are the colors as well.
I have a black silicone strap on the test, which is quite pleasant to the touch. It received the dimensions, in length – 231 mm, and in width – 22 mm. It is also removable and can be easily replaced with any other option.
Microwear L16 is a seemingly good smart watch, which got an interesting appearance and high-quality assembly. But before making hasty conclusions, let me talk about the main functions and features of the watch.
Features and Application
The Microwear L16 dial is very rich in its functionality. Since here you can find information about the time, date, days of the week, battery level, steps, distance and heart rate.
Also, smart watches received several types of dials, but to download more you need to use the mobile application. I will talk about him a little later.
If you swipe from top to bottom, we’ll get into the quick settings menu. Here you can see functions such as a QR code for the application, find the phone, battery level and brightness adjustment.
If you swipe in the opposite direction, we see the notification menu.
Swipe to the right you can see the daily activity menu, for example, steps taken, distance and calories. Also a sleep and health menu. The last section contains features such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen level in the blood, and an electrocardiogram (ECG).
I checked every health function and found that they all worked well and showed realistic results.
Next, you can see the section of sports modes. Only 1 modes for training, such as running, walking, cycling, swimming and other activities.
Next, swipe to the right we see the control of the music player. This feature is common and it is really useful to control music through your wrist during training.
If you swipe to the left of the main menu, we will see a list of additional functions. For example, find the phone, stopwatch, timer, clock information, factory reset, shutdown, and languages. The number of languages is quite wide and here you can find such as English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Russian and others.
If we compare the functionality with the predecessors of the Microwear L15, then it has not changed much.
Now I want to connect the L16 smartwatch to an application called FitCloudPro. It is available on both Android and iOS devices.
After installing the application, you need to register in the application and go through several steps about your body condition. For example, height, weight, gender and more.
In the main menu of the application, you can find statistics of your activities for the last days, weeks or even months.
Also in the FitCloudPro settings there is a list of applications that can be given permission to receive notifications on the watch.
But the most important feature in the application is the installation of additional dials on the watch. There is a large selection of dials and each user will be able to choose one or more to their liking.
Microwear L16 received 290 mAh battery capacity and this is really a good capacity when compared to competitors.
As practice has shown, the operating time on a full charge of the battery was about 7 days. The result may vary slightly, plus or minus 2 days, depending on the frequent use of various functions, such as heart rate monitoring and more.
Charging time from 0 to 100% will take you about 1.5 hours through a magnetic two-pin charger.
Conclusion and reviews
First of all, the new Microwear L16 smartwatch is a stylish wearable device that can be used both for every day and for sports.
Also, inexpensive smart watches are suitable for older people to monitor the state of the heart rhythm or conduct an electrocardiogram test. Of course, the result will not be as accurate as with special medical devices.
In addition, a wide list of functions will give you great opportunities. For example, you can find your smartphone, manage music through the clock, receive important notifications or calls and much more.
Autonomous work also pleased, almost 7 days of work – this is a solid indicator for smartwatches with such a large screen resolution.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Currently, each user will be able to purchase a new generation of smartwatches Microwear L16 at a low price starting from $ 28.76 with a 23% discount.
Also, from 1.5 to 3 dollars, you can additionally order a metal or leather strap. Taking into account my low cost, I can fully recommend a smartwatch from Microwear for purchase or for a gift.
