The beginning of 2021 turned out to be quite progressive. And not only many manufacturers have started to showcase their new line of smartphones, but other categories of products such as TV boxes. Today I’m testing a completely new TV box model called Mecool KM6 Deluxe.
I have previously tested some TV boxes from the Mecool brand, if anyone is interested, then I will leave a link here. In this article, you can find useful information about the TV box, as well as its main advantages and disadvantages.
As for the price tag, I cannot attribute Mecool KM6 Deluxe to the budget category of devices. Currently at the start of sales, the cost of the device was about $95. Agree that the price tag is not at all low, but let’s see what are the main features that distinguish the TV box in comparison with other competitors.
The first and most important difference in the new generation of TV boxes is a completely new processor called Amlogic S905X4. But I would also like to note that the Mecool manufacturer has presented two versions of TV boxes – Deluxe and Classic. Both versions have the same processor, but the price of the Classic version will be lower – about $65.
Other features I can attribute are the 4/64 GB version of memory, Bluetooth 5.0, as well as a pure Android TV 10.0 operating system. Yes, and I’ll say right away that the Classic modification is not only different in appearance, but also in technical features. But I’ll talk about them a little later.
Now I propose to start our full and in-depth TV box inspection with the appearance of the package.

Unboxing and packaging
A new model of Mecool KM6 Deluxe TV box is delivered in a rather interesting package. On the front, you can see the appearance of the device, and there are also other designations. I can refer to them – this is the name of the company, Android TV and the slogan Hey Google.
I found a lot of interesting things inside the box. This is the TV box itself, instructions for use, a remote control, a power adapter and an HDMI cable.
As you can see, the set out of the box is pretty typical, like most TV boxes. But I liked the quality of the cardboard packaging and the presence of a remote control with a large number of buttons. In addition, you can additionally order a separate joystick for control or games and many other accessories.
Design, workmanship and materials used
The appearance of the new Mecool KM6 Deluxe TV box practically does not differ in its shape and size, like any other TV box. But the materials used make the new device stand out quite strongly from its competitors.
The TV box body is completely made of plastic, but on the top, there is an interesting drawing that looks like a real tree.
But naturally, this is not a tree finish, but only a drawing and it is covered with glossy plastic. This glossy finish looks very nice with wood grain. Also in the central part is the company logo with gray letters – Mecool.
The rest of the body is made of glossy white plastic. It is the perfect combination of materials used for both designs. But it’s hard for me to call it practical, since light scratches will easily remain on the device case. So, here I would like to get a matte white plastic instead of a glossy one.
Now I think it’s worth going through the main external connections. On the front, there is a long curved LED strip that indicates the work of the device.
Meanwhile, there is nothing on the right side, but on the back, there are many connections. These are the AV audio port, 1000 Mb LAN connection, HDMI port, Optical connection and power port. Of course, on the left side, there are also ports such as USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and a slot for a memory card.
The underside of the TV box received four rubber feet against slipping, as well as many ventilation holes against overheating. But how does the passive cooling system do it? I’ll cover all this in the next section.
Now I would like to talk about the main differences between Mecool KM6 Deluxe and Mecool KM6 Classic. The last variant, namely Classic, comes in a black plastic box. This time the plastic is quite budgetary and the device does not look as luxurious as the Deluxe modification.
But one thing pleases me – this is the presence of matte black plastic, which is more wear-resistant than the glossy version. But all external user connections for the Classic version are exactly the same as for the Deluxe model.
As for the remote control, it received additional buttons for quick access to applications such as YouTube, Prime Video, Google Play. I also really liked the voice dial button. It is really convenient to use it if you need to find the information you need quickly. The remote control itself is powered by two AAA batteries and is not included in the package bundle.
Performance, Benchmark Tests, Video Playback, Games and OS
A new model of TV box Mecool KM6 Deluxe came to us with a completely new processor – this is the Amlogic S905X4. Previously, it had not met anywhere and therefore his performance won me over.
If we compare the new generation of the Amlogic S905X4 chipset with its predecessor, then at first glance the differences may seem insignificant, but they are. For example, the new processor uses 12 nanometer technology and has four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.
Below I will leave examples of the tests carried out for various benchmarks. But on my own I note that in the AnTuTu test, the device scored 100 thousand points. This is a serious indicator for this class of devices.
In addition, I liked the work of the ARM Mali-G31 MP2 graphics accelerator. It showed positively and I could play even demanding games with ease without too much question.
Also on board the device uses 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. At the same time, the internal memory had a read speed of 191 MBps, and a write speed of 106 MBps. Here, I should also mention that the Classic version has the same processor as the Deluxe version, but the amount of memory is different. For example, the Classic modification received only 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory.
Another difference between these modifications is the wireless connection. If the Mecool KM6 Deluxe model uses Bluetooth with version 5.0, then the Classic has Bluetooth 4.2. In addition, the improved version has support for Wi-Fi 6. But the younger one also has dual-band Wi-Fi, then only with b/g/n/ac bands. The last difference is the Ethernet connection, the basic version has a LAN speed of only 100 Mbps, while the Deluxe has 1000 Mbps.
Now for the user interface? Mecool KM6 Deluxe has a clean version of Android TV with version 10 installed. Thus, the user interface is exactly the same as most global TV boxes. That is, the main menu is a ribbon with various functions and features.
That is, on the main menu of the user interface, you can find such sections as all installed applications, Play Next, Youtube and others. Naturally, there is already a Play Store here and after authorization, you will be able to install almost any application or games.
The settings are a pop-up list of features. For example, this is about the device, date and time, languages, keyboard, sound, memory and much more. In general, this is the same settings menu as on most mobile devices running the Android operating system.
After analyzing the user interface, I suggest moving on to the various tests for video reproducibility. This is the most important task for any TV box. In the case of the Mecool KM6 Deluxe, it passed all my tests well.
Let’s say I first ran various 4K videos through a USB flash drive and the video played smoothly and without any jerks. The same applies to the YouTube application, where even the 4K format at 60 frames per second, the video played stably.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
Mecool KM6 Deluxe is the next premium device that can upgrade your old TV. Yes, the cost of the Deluxe model may not be the most attractive, but then I can recommend you its younger version Mecool KM6 Classic.
On the positive side, I can mention a pure Android TV operating system, smooth high-definition video playback and good performance. With the new Amlogic S905X4 processor, you can not only watch ultra-high definition videos, but also play various games.
Also from the positive features I can highlight – this is a large amount of memory, built-in chromecast, support for Dolby Atmos and even a good remote control with voice commands.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Currently, you can buy the premium version of Mecool KM6 Deluxe TV box at a tempting offer – $93.99 with a 53% discount.
But if you have a limited budget, then I can recommend the younger version of the Mecool KM6 Classic with a price tag of $62.99. Both options are good, but the deluxe version has slightly better technical stuffing.
