Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

Leagoo looks so slowly to one of the best smartphone manufacturers in the entry-level and middle class. The special here is, however, the hardware of new Leagoo T5c in our review. There is 3GB of RAM, Spreadtrum SC9853i and 32GB of memory sound great for the low price just $99.99!

But can the Leagoo T5c convince in the review? Let’s find out!

Leagoo T5c: Design and Appearance

The Leagoo T5c is available in two colors: BLACK and CHAMPAGNE GOLD. I bought the black version.

At first glance, the smartphone looks very nice high quality. However, this impression is deceptive.

While most Leagoo smartphones are made of aluminum, the Leagoo T5c is made entirely of plastic.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

Good at a price of $100 is hardly anything else to expect. The haptic I would classify as okay.

The smartphone is sufficiently robust, but feels a bit “plastic”.

Let’s go around the Leagoo T5c. On the front, we find the 5.5 inch Full HD display as well as the front camera and below the display three capacitive buttons and one button with the fingerprint scanner in the usual Leagoo style.

The headphone jack and speaker, as well as the micro USB charging port, are mounted on the bottom of the smartphone. A somewhat unusual decision, but seems to save money in production when the loading port is up.

The dual camera can be found on the back of the smartphone.

Of course, the Leagoo T5c also has the usual physical Android buttons on the right side.

These are nothing special from their pressure point but are suitable in everyday life.

In short, I would classify the feel of the Leagoo T5c as solid. There are also for low price $100 even higher quality smartphones, but also much cheaper.

Leagoo T5c: Display

The display of the Leagoo T5c in analisis is still relatively usual at 5.5 inches. Fortunately, this resolves with a good 1920 × 1080 pixels.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

I would call the display Okay. Sure, in a $100 smartphone you can not expect a high-end display, but the Leagoo T5c’s display is also far from the worst display I’ve ever seen.

Colors and contrasts are pretty neat! The viewpoints, however, I would rather classify as mediocre.

Leagoo T5c: Hardware and Performance

Often the performance is the biggest problem of cheap smartphones. Here, however, the U Lite looks very good at first glance!

A Spreadtrum SC9853i and 3GB RAM promise a good performance. But let’s take a look at some benchmarks.

Of course, it is expected of a $100 smartphone that sets this benchmark records, but I’m more than satisfied with the results.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

The Leagoo T5c in the first look would have to be the fastest smartphone under $150.

The Spreadtrum SC9853i even achieves nearly the performance of a Snapdragon 805 in the Antutu benchmark, impressive!

This does not mean, of course, that the Leagoo T5c in the review is a racing machine, but the performance looks promising for everyday life.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

The promising performance on paper can also translate the Leagoo T5c well into everyday life.

The smartphone feels pretty fast. Sure, it could be a bit quicker here and there, but you never have the feeling of having a slow device.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

Above all, the Leagoo T5c is very responsive when it comes to input and typing.

The user interface is almost always fluid. Even the standard apps such as the web browser, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc. can be easily operated.

Here, the use is not only smooth but also fun. It’s fun to use the Leagoo T5c, which you can not say about any smartphone in this price range.

Even games run as smoothly as possible. Sure, with very elaborate 3D games it can come here and there to stutter or the graphics are screwed down, but here helps the 1080p display the SoC something.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

However, that’s impressive for a smartphone in this price range. In general, you always have to make any compromises in the use when buying a cheap smartphone.

However, the Leagoo T5c deserves the rating “perfectly adequate for 95% of all smartphone users”.

Even things like the built-in GPS or Wi-Fi are good. The smartphone, unfortunately, does support 5GHz Wi-Fi and the 2.4GHz band is pleasantly fast.

Definitely fast enough for here and there an app download.

Also, the notification LED that is so important to me is present and bright enough that it is also clearly visible.

Leagoo T5c: Software

Leagoo T5c in the test relies on Android 7.0. This is very close to the Stock Android (Stock Android = the pure Android without manufacturer modifications).

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

The first change noticed will certainly be during the setup.

Arrived on the home screen, you beam the normal Android 7.0 counter including App Drawer etc.

There is only one app that was pre-installed by Leagoo in addition to the various Google services and this is a Leagoo own service app.

Unfortunately, the free internal memory is large than one might think with such a slim user interface. You still have 25.5GB at your disposal.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

However, the memory can be expanded via memory card. Here you have to decide, however, dual SIM or memory expansion up to 128GB, both at the same time is not possible.

Apart from that, there is not much software left to mention. Leagoo has added a few additional options such as the ability to choose between software keys and capacitive buttons, but that’s it.

Leagoo T5c: Cameras

The Leagoo T5c in our analisis has dual camera 13.0-megapixels and 2-megapixels camera. That does sound very impressive, but megapixels are everything.

Let’s start with the app. Here Leagoo uses its standard camera app, which is characterized by similar strengths and weaknesses as other Android smartphones.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

Functionally and visually, the app is T5c. This even comes with a manual mode, if you really want to take the time to shoot.

Unfortunately, the app or the camera is a bit sluggish. After a shot, you have to wait for 1-2 seconds before the next picture is taken.

However, this is nothing abnormal in this price range.

Even in low light, the pictures are acceptable. Understand this not wrong, the Leagoo T5c does not make world-class pictures, but for this price range, the whole thing is very neat and is sufficient for posting on Facebook or send out WhatsApp completely.

Especially in sunshine or daylight, I would not be ashamed to post a picture on Facebook.

The same applies to the video mode which, among other things, thanks to Full HD resolution for this price range is far above average.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

Videos are qualitatively pretty clear and colors, of course, impressive! Maybe only the bitrate is a bit low, which is noticeable with fast pans.

Unfortunately, there is no video stabilizer, so you have to be careful that you do not wobble too much.

Finally, something to the Autofocus. This is okay, it is relatively accurate, but a bit slow.

Which fits well with the camera of the Leagoo T5c. The quality is right, but the whole thing is a bit slow.

Leagoo T5c: Sound

The speaker of the Leagoo T5c in our review is mounted on the bottom. Let’s say it is acceptable.

The speaker is very clear and bright. But he tends to be over 80% volume but something to scratch and shrill.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

For a few Youtube videos, but the whole thing is enough.

The headphone jack, on the other hand, is a solid standard. If you do not use earphones that are more expensive than your smartphone, you probably will not notice any deficits here.

The same applies to the telephone quality which is also solid.

Leagoo T5c: Battery

The Leagoo T5c has a 3000mAh strong battery. This is pretty much for a smartphone in this price range. Even high-end smartphones often do not have more battery capacity.

How well does the battery last in practice?

Very good! I was able to get around 9-10 hours of runtime out of the Leagoo T5c in our analisis at my average usage, that is, web browsing, social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and a little playtime brightness at a medium screen brightness.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

This is an excellent value! The standby consumption is very low. Overnight, the Bq has lost less than 10% battery.

In short, the mix of entry-level hardware and a large battery shows effect.

The charging takes about 2.5-3 hours quite a long time. A charging current of 1.2A is achieved.

Leagoo T5c: Conclusions and Reviews

The Leagoo T5c in our test and reviews shows the big ones how it works.

The Leagoo T5c is a rock solid smartphone, which is quite fun to use.

Leagoo T5c Review: Ultra Budget Smartphone with Potential Hardware

This is least due to the Spreadtrum SC9853i SoC and the rich 3GB of RAM. Also, battery life or the camera is more than acceptable.

The case, there are certainly in this price range even higher quality smartphones.

In short, under $100 you get currently neither a faster smartphone a better all-rounder! Well done Leagoo! Rarely has the use of such a cheap smartphone been so much fun!
