Last month I was able to test an interesting smartphone model from Infinix called Hot 10 Play. Today I want to share with you about using a slightly different smartphone model and as you understood from the name – it will be Infinix Hot 10s.
If the Play version was a more budgetary option, then the new generation of Hot 10s belongs to the mid-budget class of devices. In this review, I will tell you my experience of using the new smartphone from Infinix and tell you about its strengths and weaknesses.
As for the cost, the price tag for the Infinix Hot 10s smartphone is currently around $175. Let me remind you that the last generation of Hot 10 Play cost me $115.
Based on the technical features, the Hot 10s has received a number of significant changes. For example, the smartphone was equipped with a more powerful MediaTek Helio G85 processor. It also has 4 and 64 GB of memory on board with the ability to use a separate memory card slot.
The main camera module received three sensors, where the main one has a 48-megapixel resolution. In addition, the smartphone is distinguished by a large 6.82-inch screen with an IPS matrix and a 90 Hz refresh rate. I can also highlight a good 5000 mAh battery.
But is the new smartphone model perfect from Infinix? Let me begin my in-depth and detailed inspection with the appearance and equipment of the device.

Unboxing and packaging
The packaging design from the Infinix brand always pleases me with its brightness and youth. In the case of the Hot 10s, the packaging was no exception. On the front of the box, there is a sketch of the device with the model and company name. There is also a designation of the processor version and NFC support.
Meanwhile, a sticker with the main technical specs was stuck on the back of the package. I already talked about them at the beginning of the review, so let’s check the package contents and what the manufacturer has packed there for us.
Inside the package, I found the smartphone itself. The package also included a transparent plastic cover, instructions, and a needle for a SIM tray.
But the power adapter and charging cable did not please me at all. Why can you ask me? Since the power adapter was only 10W, and the cable received a Micro USB connection, not Type-C.
Therefore, it is very shameful for the manufacturer to supply smartphones with such components, as for 2021. Okay, but I’m not upset and suggest you start looking at the device itself a little closer.
Design, build quality and materials
The first thing that makes the Infinix Hot 10s stand out is its budget materials. Since the device was made of glossy plastic, both on the back and on the side ends.
For me, the glossy finish is not the best choice, as it leaves fingerprints and other marks from use. But I liked the assembly of the Hot 10s smartphone model, all the components were well assembled and had no extraneous sounds.
As for usability, I didn’t particularly like the large dimensions and weight of the smartphone. That is, as I said earlier, the smartphone received a large screen size of 6.82 inches and its dimensions were 171.5 x 77.5 x 9.2 mm and the model weighs about 240 grams. Yes, this phone will be useful for watching movies or TV series, but not for daily use.
At the same time, on the back of the Infinix Hot 10s smartphone, there is a fingerprint scanner, a module of three cameras and four LEDs for a flashlight or flash. I want to note that the flashlight shone quite brightly and it will be a pleasure to use it in the dark.
On the right side of the smartphone, I found a power button and volume control. Both keys worked well and I had no strong complaints about their work. But on the left side, there is a slot for dual nano SIM cards and a memory card. I was very glad to see a separate slot for each SIM card and memory card here.
If you look at the top edge, you will not find anything on it. At the same time, on the bottom, there was a headphone jack, a hole for a microphone, a MicroUSB port and one speaker.
Of course, I can single out the disadvantages – this is the presence of the old MicroUSB charging connection, which is already rare on new smartphone models in 2021. Other than that, I didn’t really like the sound quality of the speaker. The sound itself was rather flat, but there was enough headroom for maximum volume.
On the positive side, I can highlight the good performance of the fingerprint scanner. The scanner worked pretty well and, most importantly, for sure. I figured it out well with the appearance and design, now let’s talk about the quality of the screen and its features.
Screen and image quality
As I have already said on the Infinix Hot 10s smartphone model, a fairly large screen size of 6.82 inches was installed. With such a large screen, the manufacturer managed to deliver a not very high resolution, which was only 720 x 1640 pixels. Therefore, the pixel density value was in the range of 263 PPI.
In addition, a standard IPS matrix was used on the smartphone. During my testing, the color gamut was pretty good and the colors were rendered with natural tones. I also liked the viewing angles of the image. But the disadvantage of this screen is still not very dense pixel value.
The value of the maximum brightness level was enough for me, as for everyday use. For example, during bright and sunny outdoor weather, I could read notifications or watch photos on social networks without any problems.
Other interesting features of the new Infinix Hot 10s smartphone are the 90 Hz refresh rate. This feature will allow you to get a smoother picture, both in the user interface and during games. But I’ll talk about games a little later.
Also in the settings you can choose a mode with a 60 Hz refresh rate. It will be necessary for energy saving, that is, when the battery charge on your smartphone is very low. Ok, now let’s talk about the performance and other features of the device from Infinix.
Performance, benchmarks, games and OS
The new Infinix Hot 10s smartphone uses the Helio G85 chipset from MediaTek as a processor. It was built using 12 nanometer technology and received eight cores in its execution. For example, there are six energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and two cores for powerful tasks, Cortex-A75 clocked at 2.0 GHz.
In practice, the processor performed quite well. As you can see from the benchmark results, the device scored a decent number of points. For example, in the Antutu test, the smartphone scored 206 thousand points, which is not as bad as for the middle class of devices.
The Mali-G52 MC2 processor is responsible for the graphics performance and it showed itself from a rather positive side. For example, I could easily play heavy and productive games like PUBG Mobile. During games, I did not find any major problems with textures and the number of frames was within the normal range. But the most important thing is that even after 1 hour of gaming, the device did not get very hot.
As I mentioned earlier, I have a version with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There are also versions 6 + 64 GB, 4 + 128 GB and 6 + 128 GB. If 64 GB of memory is not enough for you, then you can easily install a memory card up to 512 GB. Now let’s take a look at the memory speed results. When reading, the device scored about 295 MBps and 170 MBps write speed.
Of the other positive aspects, I can single out the presence of an NFC module for contactless payment. The device also received Wi-Fi with support for ac bands, Bluetooth 5.0 and a GPS module. But here it is worth saying that all sensors and modules worked well, except for GPS, since the signal from the satellites was weak.
As for the operating system, the latest version of the Android 11 operating system is used on board the Infinix Hot 10s smartphone. The proprietary shell is called XOS 7.6. During my testing, all operations and functions performed well for their intended purpose.
Camera and sample photos
The main camera module has three sensors, as you can see from the picture below. But now I just found information about two sensors, where the main one has a resolution of 48 megapixels. The second sensor has a 2-megapixel resolution for bokeh shots. As for the third sensor, it is most likely fake.
At the same time, the front camera received a maximum resolution of 8 megapixels. If we talk about the quality of photos, then I liked the work of both the main and the front sensor.
The photos came out quite bright and with rich colors. In addition, I found many interesting modes in the camera application. It has AI mode, 48MP mode, short video, various background styles, beauty and portrait mode.
As for video shooting, the maximum resolution for both the front and rear cameras was 2K or 1440p. If you shoot in the daytime, the video turns out to be more or less good. Apart from that, I liked the night mode. It lit up photos pretty well, but when you zoom in, you can see the blurring of objects.
Battery and run time
Inside the body of the smartphone, a 5000 mAh battery is used. This is a fairly typical battery parameter for its class. In real life, the device worked for two full days.
For example, during the test, I tested the work of the user interface, checked the work of each feature and function. Also ran benchmarks, games and camera tests. Then at the end of the second day, the device showed me about 3 percent battery remaining.
But the charging time via the 10 W power adapter and the MicroUSB connection took up to 3.5 hours. This is quite a long time and I consider the charging time to be a significant disadvantage in the Infinix Hot 10s smartphone model.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
Given its low cost and technical features, I cannot say that the new Infinix Hot 10s smartphone was completely perfect.
On the positive side, I can point out that it is a large and bright screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate. I also liked the performance of the Helio G85 processor, both in real life and in synthetic tests.
Another plus I can attribute is a good battery life, the presence of an NFC module and a separate slot for a memory card.
Of course, there are also disadvantages and this is the glossy, easily soiled body of the device. I can also highlight the large dimensions and weight of the device, the presence of only 720p screen resolution and a MicroUSB connection with slow charging.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
For its relatively low cost, the Infinix smartphone turned out to be a pretty good model, but with its own shortcomings.
As for the price, the manufacturer asks for the Infinix Hot 10s smartphone for only $ 175.95 with a 16% discount. Is this model worth your attention? It is very difficult for me to answer this question, since there is a large list of negative aspects in it. But if you are not afraid of the disadvantages of the device, then this model will be a good choice.
