For a long time I have not tested budget smartphones from Infinix, but today a completely new model of the device called Infinix Hot 10 Play came to my hands.
If you have been looking for an inexpensive budget smartphone for a long time, which will have good technical specs, then perhaps a model from the Infinix brand will be a good choice. Therefore, I propose to consider in this article not only the technical specs but also talk about the pros and cons of the device.
First, let’s discuss the cost of a smartphone, which has a demanding factor when purchasing a device. So, the price tag will depend on the modification of the device. For example, the Infinix Hot 10 Play smartphone model comes with version 2 and 32 GB of memory or 4 and 64 GB of memory. In this case, the first option will cost you $115, and the second for $130.
Naturally, the difference between the price tag of the modifications is not big, so on my own, I would recommend the version with 4 and 64 GB memory, as in my review. Among other features, the smartphone from Infinix is distinguished by the presence of a large 6.82 inch IPS screen, an Helio G35 processor, and a large built-in 6000 mAh battery.
Okay, considering that this is a budget smartphone, the main technical features of the new smartphone model are pretty good. Thus, let’s find out how a smartphone will actually show itself in real life, and also I will tell you about all the nuances and advantages.

Unboxing and packaging
The Infinix Hot 10 Play smartphone came to me for review in a rather bright package, which was made of green and orange. On the front side of the box, you can see a sketch of a smartphone with the name of the model, company, and memory version.
Inside the box, I found – this is, directly, the smartphone itself with a protective colored transport film, which depicts the main features of the device. The package also includes a plastic protective bumper for the back of the smartphone, a protective film for the screen, a SIM needle, and instructions.
Meanwhile, at the bottom of the package is a 10W power adapter, a MicroUSB charging cable, and wired budget headphones. At first glance, I really liked the wide package. But you can see that it is budgetary and the presence of a MicroUSB cable speaks only of negative emotions.
Design, workmanship, and materials
Since the Infinix Hot 10 Play smartphone is almost ultra-budget, it makes no sense to expect high-quality materials. In the case of the Infinix model, the body of the device was completely made of glossy plastic with iridescent shades of gray. In sunny weather, the back panel really looks unusual.
On the other hand, the glossy plastic is generally not credible for durability. For example, during my test, I tried to use my smartphone very carefully. But after several days of testing, slight abrasions could be noticed on the body of the device. Therefore, the glossy plastic is a serious disadvantage for me.
If we talk about the build quality, then I did not find any special complaints during my use. But I can’t call the assembly completely perfect either, since this is a budget smartphone and over time you may have squeaks or other extraneous sounds. Although during my testing, I did not find unnecessary squeaks.
Now let’s go over the dimensions and weights of the Infinix Hot 10 Play. For example, the dimensions of the smartphone are 171.8 x 78 x 8.9 mm, and the weight of the device does not exceed 207 grams. Naturally, one-handed use was impossible given the screen size of just over 6.8 inches. But watching movies or playing games on such a large screen was a pleasure. But I’ll talk about screen quality in the next section.
The back of the smartphone from Infinix has two main camera modules. Here you might think that the device has four camera modules, but there are actually two of them. Also next to the sensors is an LED flash, and in the central part, there is a fingerprint scanner.
The scanner works pretty well and recognizes the finger quickly and accurately. But I cannot call the location of the fingerprint scanner ideal. Since most companies make a combined solution and embed the fingerprint scanner in the power button.
Okay, on the right side of the Hot 10 Play smartphone, there is a power button and a volume rocker. But on the left side, there is a separate slot for dual nano-SIM cards and a microSD memory card. You can also notice a rubber seal on the slot so that excess moisture or water does not get inside the smartphone.
The bottom end of the smartphone received a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a MicroUSB port for charging, and a microphone hole. There is nothing on the top end and this is a bit strange since I do not see a hole for the speaker here. Infinix decided to make a universal speaker. That is, the upper earpiece is used not only for conversations but also as a multimedia speaker. The sound quality is not very good, but the maximum volume level is quite good.
Screen and picture quality
As I said, on the front of the Infinix Hot 10 Play smartphone there is a 6.82-inch IPS screen with HD+ or 720 x 1640 pixels. At the same time, the pixel density per inch has a very weak value of 263 PPI. What could you expect from a budget smartphone with $115 price tags?
While I can’t say the pixelation was terrible, individual pixels were visible up close. As for the brightness, the maximum value was sufficient to comfortably use the device outdoors.
If you look at the frames around the screen, they are minimal on the right and left sides, but at the top and especially at the bottom they are quite large. You can also find a teardrop shape below the selfie camera. There is also a large LED on the upper edge, which will notify you of the latest notifications or the discharge of your smartphone.
As for the quality of the screen itself, I liked the bright and rich picture. At the same time, the color scheme was rich and very lively. In general, given that this is a budget smartphone, I did not have any special comments on the 60 Hz screen.
Performance, benchmarks, games, and OS
Under the hood of the Infinix Hot 10 Play smartphone, the manufacturer also installed a budget processor from MediaTek, namely the Helio G35. This processor is not old, as it was introduced in the summer of 2020 and is quite popular in low-cost smartphones.
The chipset was built on 12-nanometer technology and has eight Cortex-A53 cores in its execution with a maximum clock frequency of 2.3 GHz. If you look at the benchmark tests, then you should not expect high results. But as for its class, the smartphone has a very good performance. For example, I will leave the results of various benchmark tests in the album below.
The video accelerator PowerVR GE8320 is responsible for the graphics. Naturally, this GPU is not the most gaming one, since it was not created for heavy gaming processes. But if you plan to play simple games, then there will be no problems with this processor. I even managed to play PUBG Mobile, but of course, on the lowest graphics settings.
I have a version of a smartphone with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is also a version for 2 and 32 GB, but I cannot advise such a configuration, there will be quite a little memory, as for everyday tasks. Yes, you shouldn’t expect fast speed from the built-in eMMC 5.1 memory. But it is possible to increase the amount of memory thanks to a separate slot for a microSD card.
As for wireless communication, I did not find any special problems with the operation of dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. But the only drawback I can attribute is the presence of one GPS signal determination module – this is A-GPS. Also, onboard the device does not support the module for wireless payments – NFC.
If we talk about the operating system, then the Infinix Hot 10 Play smartphone uses Android 10. Yes, it may not be the latest version of the OS, but I did not find any problems during my testing of the smartphone. In addition, the user interface is not clean but is built on its own XOS 7 shell based on the lightweight Go edition OS.
Bright themes, unusual green icons, and many interesting features and functions attract particular attention. As I said, during testing, all functions worked quickly and I did not find any delays during use.
Camera and sample photos
Remember I mentioned that the main camera module of the Infinix Hot 10 Play received two sensor modules. In fact, this is not the case, because one of them was created for beauty. Infinix does not even hide that the second sensor is a prop or a dummy. Therefore, on the backside, only one camera module is used, which received a resolution of 13 megapixels with ƒ/1.8 aperture.
Meanwhile, on the front side, there is an 8-megapixel module with ƒ/2.0 aperture. You can see examples of photos in the album below. But on my own, I can note that the quality of photos in good lighting is pretty good. Although in low light, the photos came out with a lot of grain.
In the camera application, you can find a large number of shooting modes. For example, this is AI camera, beauty, blur, AR shooting, and video. But if we compare the devices with the main competitors such as the Poco M3 and others, then the difference in the quality of photos will be significant and not in favor of the Infinix device.
Battery and run time
A big bonus in the new Infinix Hot 10 Play smartphone is the large 6,000mAh battery. This is really a lot, as the device has a low screen resolution with an energy-saving processor.
During my use, the smartphone worked for a full two days. But at the same time, I conducted various tests, for example, benchmarks, played games and took photographs. In general, battery life with ordinary use can reach up to 3 working days.
But a significant disadvantage for me was the lack of a fast-charging function. The device comes with a 10W power adapter out of the box. In addition, the manufacturer has installed a MicroUSB port on the body of the smartphone, so the time for a full charge will be up to 3.5 hours.
Conclusion, reviews, pros, and cons
I cannot call the new model of the Infinix Hot 10 Play smartphone an ideal choice, since the device no longer meets the new standards for 2021. In addition, the smartphone has received many shortcomings, which cannot be kept silent.
But first, let me talk about the positive aspects, and then let’s talk about the disadvantages. The first thing I liked was the rather bright and colorful screen. In addition, the main advantage is the battery life of the device, the presence of separate use for dual nano-SIM cards and a memory card at the same time.
If we talk about photos, then I liked how the main camera module takes pictures. The 13-megapixel sensor takes pretty bright and vibrant photos, but only in good light.
Now about the cons of the new Hot 10 Play smartphone, which are also missing. One of the drawbacks is the glossy plastic case, which is quite easily soiled and easily left with traces of use.
Also, I cannot say that the performance is the strong point of the device. In addition, the device does not have a separate main speaker, and the presence of a MicroUSB port only further discourages me from buying. As for the camera, you won’t find an ultra-wide sensor, bokeh, or macro modes here.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Currently, you can buy the Infinix Hot 10 Play smartphone at a rather attractive price for only $115 for the 2+32GB version and for $130 for the 4+64GB version.
But I cannot recommend this smartphone model as it is rather outdated as of 2021. Therefore, below, I can leave alternative options that will be similar in price, but with much better technical specs.
