Today I got into the hands of very interesting wireless earbuds from the little-known brand G-DOO. I have not heard about this brand before, but I can say in advance that I definitely liked the new G-DOO SE16S earbuds.
Despite the fact that nothing is known about this brand, the earbuds received an attractive appearance, a good combination of build quality, and the dynamic driver used.
But the main feature of the G-DOO SE16S was the price tag. You can currently purchase TWS earbuds at a low price of around $18.
For a fairly low cost, you get good technical features, for example, support for aptX codec, IPX5 water protection, Bluetooth 5.0 connection, and good battery life.
According to the scenario, I want to start testing the earbuds with a complete set and then we’ll talk about important things like sound and microphone quality.
G-DOO SE16S: Specifications
|Driver unit:||6mm Dynamic|
The appearance of the box is pretty nice, here I found a pattern of earbuds and a charging box on the front, and on the back, there is a list of technical specifications.
The box itself is small in size and it is made of fairly durable cardboard, so you should not worry about transportation.
As usually happens with most little-known brands from China, I did not find any information about the name of the company. Only present the name of the model – SE16S.
Inside the box, I was met with a charging box with headphones inside, user manual, silicone blue ear tips with various sizes, a Type-C charging cable, and even a protective carrying case.
Given its initial low cost, I was completely glad to see the presence of a modern Type-C port and a small shipping bag so as not to scratch the headphone case.
The first thing I noticed was a bright pattern on the front of the earbuds. Here you can see the inscription name of the model G-DOO. There is also a yellow and blue rim along which you can navigate whether it is the right channel or the left.
The whole body is made of plastic, but I want to note that the outside has a glossy finish and the inside is matte.
Of course, glossy plastic looks more interesting, but from a practical point of view, it will be worse. The fingerprints easily remain on it and it is easily scratched.
Otherwise, the build quality is at a decent level, again given its low cost. The earbud case does not hold together and each element is assembled accurately and correctly.
For convenience, I have no complaints, TWS earbuds G-DOO SE16S sat very well in my ear canal, and even during sports they did not try to fall out. In addition, I could wear them for half a day and not feel discomfort, as the design is very ergonomic and the weight of each earbud was about 4 grams.
Another bonus for many users will be the availability of water protection standard IPX5. Of course, earbuds cannot be completely immersed in water, but they should not be afraid of light rain or sweat.
On the front side, there is a touch control panel and an LED indicator of work. The inner side of the case received two contacts for charging with a magnetic connection.
The sound guide has a protective grid against debris, but I did not find a hole for the microphone. Although the microphone is built into the headphone housing, I’ll talk about the quality of the microphone’s sound a bit later.
The charging box got quite overall dimensions, so putting it in a jeans pocket will be problematic. But it has a very interesting feature – it is an LED screen that shows the battery level in the case.
The build quality is average and the box is made of matte black plastic. The lid received a magnetic connection and under the lid, there are landing holes for the headphones, which are made in blue.
On the back of the case, there is a Type-C charging port, which I am very pleased with. I don’t understand why little-known brands make high-quality and interesting earbuds, while more popular models use old Micro USB ports.
Connection and Control
The earbuds received a very strong and high-quality signal, which is accompanied via Bluetooth 5.0. During the test, I didn’t have any disconnects and the signal even through two walls from the source was stable and without interference.
But in the presence of the aptX codec, I was disappointed, since it is not here. The earbuds are connected with only the SBC codec, and I also did not find the AAC codec here.
The control is quite wide and here you can find all the functions that are possible:
- One-touch on any of the earbud leads to play, pause, accept, or hang up.
- Double-tap on the right channel – the next track, and on the left – the previous one.
- Three touch on the right earbud – to increase the volume, and left – decrease.
- Holding for about 3 seconds on any of the earbuds leads to the call of a voice assistant.
Earlier, I mentioned that the G-DOO SE16S earbuds received only the SBC codec, but the sound quality is pretty good.
The dynamic driver has good sound speed, dynamics, and even volume. But personally, my opinion is that the low frequencies sound a little muffled. They lack volume, bass, and even depth.
The mids play well and have good detail. The high frequencies were strangled a bit so as not to annoy at high volume.
The SE16S earbuds are omnivorous in style, that is, you can listen to almost any genre of music without any problems, but you should keep in mind a relaxed low-frequency range.
Although this problem with low frequencies can be easily solved thanks to the built-in equalizer in the music player.
The quality of the microphone is low. As I already mentioned, there is not even a microphone hole. Therefore, the sound will be deaf and the interlocutor will not hear you as clearly as we would like.
Each SE16S earbud has a 40 mAh battery capacity. As practice has shown, the battery life from a full charge of the battery was about 4 hours at a volume level of 70%.
The indicator is not very high, but the earbuds still have an additional charging box with a battery capacity of 500 mAh. Therefore, the total battery life will be about 20 hours.
The charging time through a modern Type-C connection will take about 1.5 hours of your time.
Conclusion and Reviews
G-DOO SE16S TWS earbuds – proved to be worthy, both for the budget segment.
They received a large number of useful features, for example, touch control with the presence of volume control. I also liked the attractive and vibrant design that will appeal to teens or students.
The sound quality, as for its class, is at a fairly good level. I also liked the presence of Type-C connections and battery life.
Of the minuses I can attribute – this is the lack of AAC and aptX codecs, as well as low frequencies, sound very weak.
Price and Where to buy cheaper?
Currently, anyone can buy the G-DOO SE16S at a low and competitive price for only $18 with a 28% discount.
When compared with competitors, the SE16S model has every chance of its existence, which is no worse than many budget models, and in some aspects even better.
