Elephone A6 Mini is a cheaper version of the A6 model. In this first review, we will tell about all aspects of the new smartphone from the company Elephone.
As you remember two months ago, the Elephone A5 was officially introduced with excellent or even at first glance flagship features. But with a full review, we found out that only the appearance is like that of the flagship, but the performance remained the same as that of the middle-class smartphone.
The new generation Elephone A6 Mini will have slightly simplified specifications, but the price will be slightly lower. For only $119.99 you can now order and buy a phone.
It has a 5.71-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 19: 9, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, a quad-core Helio A22 processor and the Android 9.0 operating system.
Let’s begin our review and we will begin with technical specifications.

Elephone A6 Mini: Design and Appearance
The Elephone A6 Mini in our test is very similar to the Elephone A6, but there are a couple of differences in design. This is in the main camera, the A6 Mini has a dual sensor, and the A6 has a triple camera, like its older brother Elephone A5.
The design of the Elephone A6 Mini looks minimalistic. The body is made of plastic, which successfully imitates aluminum. The quality of the body is good – the smartphone is well in hand. And the quality of the materials used does not disappoint.
On the front, we see a large screen measuring 5.71 inches and a water drop notch on the top for the front camera and a slightly higher speaker.
The display is elongated (aspect ratio 19: 9), but it is surrounded by rather wide frames with an additional black edging. The corners of the screen are rounded, there are no buttons under it (navigation on the screen).
On the back of the device, we see a dual camera and flash. As you can see there is no fingerprint scanner, it is located on the side of the device.
On the right side are the power and volume buttons and a fingerprint scanner. Buttons work fine – they are easily pressed and flexible.
On the other hand, there is a hybrid slot for nanoSIMs cards and microSD.
Below you can see the Type-C port, speaker and microphone, and at the top end – 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The ergonomics are the same as in the case of the older model Elephone A5. The A6 Mini version is again a handy smartphone with a rather compact screen. With an elongated screen with a 19: 9 aspect ratio, the phone can be used with one hand.
The case does not slide off in the hands, and the screen does not collect fingerprints. Also, the smartphone is lightweight (155 g), so you can use it intensively, without fatigue or speak freely for long hours. However, you should consider buying a protective case, because the plastic case may be prone to scratches.
The smartphone Elephone A6 Mini in the analisis is a device with a budget category, so it is difficult to require the presence of an NFC sensor, water resistance, and other additional functions.
The smartphone does not heat up during operation or in games – the case always remains pleasant to the touch.
Elephone A6 Mini: Display
As I mentioned earlier, the Elephone A6 Mini has a 5.71-inch screen with a resolution of HD + (1520 x 720 pixels). The pixel density is 294 ppi, so the image is clear and fonts too.
There is no lack of lighting, which is enough in sunlight and does not blind at night. The viewing angles and shades are not very rich, but quite natural.
White cools slightly, but it can be calibrated. Unfortunately, black is obviously weak, so the contrast looks average.
Elephone A6 Mini: Hardware and Performance
Unfortunately, compared to the Elephone A6, the A6 Mini version has been greatly simplified in terms of performance.
Instead of the eight-processor version of the Helio P22, the Elephone A6 Mini will use a MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core processor in the test. The cores are still out of date Cortex-A53, but with a pretty strong overclocking (2.0 GHz).
The tested version has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of memory, which is slightly slower than the Elephone A6, but at the same time provides a good read of 281 MB/s and 136 MB/s of write.
Unfortunately, the overall performance is felt in practice – the Elephone A6 Mini is clearly slower than the Elephone A6 model.
It can load pages and applications with heavy graphics processes for a long time.
In normal tasks, there are no problems, but if we like to use the application in a split-screen mode, often switching between them, then we did not find any problems during our tests.
In the tests, this smartphone received 63879 points in AnTuTu 7.1.0 and 805 points in a single-core test and 2316 points in a multi-core Geekbench 4.
The graphics performance is twice as low as Elephone A6, 276 points in the Open GL 3.1 test in 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme.
The smartphone can work with simple games, but problems can arise with demanding games. Advanced 3D games may not work smoothly even at the lowest settings. PUBG Mobile can run and even play at low settings, but there have been strong jumps that strongly influence the battle.
Elephone A6 Mini: Software
Elephone A6 Mini in our test is running the operating system Android 9.0 Pie. This is almost pure Android, but it has bright theme icons. If you do not like these, you can easily install another launcher from the Google Play Store.
No Chinese applications other but here have been installed in the memory Google applications such as Youtube, Maps, and others.
The settings screen was logically sorted and allow you to set colors, activate gesture control (which I recommend trying), as well as many other parameters.
In general, this is a new operating system that works stably and efficiently. During our tests with the Elephone A6 Mini, we did not find any delays.
Elephone A6 Mini: Camera
The Elephone A6 Mini is equipped with a dual 16 and 2-megapixel sensor on the back of the device. In front of the water drop notch for the 16-megapixel camera.
On the right side of the camera application interface, we find the triggers and shortcut for the gallery. The list of modes is vertical and contains portrait mode in the Elephone A6 Mini model.
There is also a panorama mode and manual mode with white balance, focus, shutter setting (1 / 1000-1 / 2 s) and ISO (100-3200).
At the top of the interface, there are shortcuts: Flash, HDR, filters, and settings.
The photo quality of the Elephone A6 Mini, unfortunately, is slightly worse than the model of the Elephone A6 – you can see the lack of sharpness, softer contours and some blurred corners of the frame.
A more expensive model boasts better sharpness, more saturated colors and higher contrast. The differences are not dramatic, but amateur photography will be more satisfied with the capabilities of the Elephone A6.
It should be remembered that in low light both smartphones will not have good quality photos. In the dark, photos will get noises, softening of contours and grit.
The front camera Elephone A6 Mini has almost the same features as the Elephone A6. It will allow you to make a good selfie, but also in good light.
Elephone A6 Mini: Communication and call quality
The communication in both smartphones is the same. Elephone A6 Mini has single-band Wi-Fi, which reaches 40 Mbps, and LTE works stably and allows you to download at speeds up to 25 Mbps as for our test.
GPS works well and finds a location quickly, I also used GLONASS and Beidou systems. The quality of the conversations was completely satisfactory.
The sound quality in the headphones is good – the bass sound is emphasized. The A6 Mini does not support aptX codecs, but LDAC is available.
Elephone A6 Mini: Battery
The battery on the Elephone A6 Mini has 3180 mAh capacity, and I again appreciate the work from the positive side.
You can expect up to 6.5 hours of intensive use with Wi-Fi or 5-6 hours of screen operation if you also use LTE.
The waiting time is very good, so if you rarely use a smartphone, you will have to charge it every 2-3 days.
Also, the positive side is the presence of fast charging through the Type-C port, which will be about 1.5 hours from 0 to 100%.
Elephone A6 Mini: Conclusions and Reviews
Elephone A6 Mini in our review has many flaws, but they are small. And if you compare the price of $150, it becomes difficult to complain about something.
The performance of the device corresponds to the average budget class of smartphones. With heavy games, it will be difficult to use, but for everyday tasks, this is a great smartphone.
As for the appearance and quality of materials, then the A6 Mini is doing well in this regard. This is a modern phone with a water drop notch on the front panel, a dual camera on the back panel and bright colors of the plastic case. The fingerprint scanner on the side makes the smartphone more enjoyable to use.
The camera has many flaws, but with good lighting, you can get decent photos.
The battery life allows you to work for a long time. The smartphone is not one of the fastest, but it can perform basic operations without any problems.
Elephone A6 Mini: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
If we take into account that the Elephone A6 Mini costs only $119.99 in a version with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. And now you can order a phone and buy at an interesting price. Also, the first 10 units price will be only $59.99.
Value for money is still profitable, and smartphones will be appreciated by budget-conscious users with a budget price tag. Most likely this phone is suitable for teenagers, as the appearance has the current trends in the mobile device market.
