Now you will surely ask the question: Moment mal – “Quad Edge” panel? The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has only a dual-edge display? Properly, Samsung Electronics installed the Super AMOLED display in this smartphone with roundings on the right and left the side, but the display can also be rounded at the top and bottom. These and other features have brought Samsung the price for the “Display of the Year 2017” by the “Society for Information Display”.

The SDI also states that Samsung has minimized the display edges with the dual-edge display and thus optimized handling with the smartphone. The prices for the Galaxy S7 edge have already fallen significantly:

The prize will be presented on May 24, 2017, at the Display Week at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This was not Samsung’s first award of the SDI. Already in 2013 and 2015, Samsung has received prizes for its curved AMOLED displays.

Samsung rests itself in the development of its smartphones and the used displays of course not from. In the Galaxy S8, the display was bent at the sides, rounded at the edges and equipped with a new aspect ratio of 18.5: 9, in order to be able to occupy more space on the front without the smartphone at a screen diagonal of 5.8 and 6.2 inches too large.

The award is thus well deserved and could motivate Samsung to develop further in the field of AMOLED technology. The trend is increasingly going to OLED displays, so the company could take a leading role there.
