Blitzwolf BW-VP6 front view

I tested Blitzwolf’s inexpensive compact LED projector last year and was very impressed. I have currently ordered the next generation of the projector, namely the Blitzwolf BW-VP6.

In this review, you will find out what the main changes have been received by the new projector and I will also talk about its features, the quality of the projection screen, and of course about the shortcomings.

If you look at the technical specifications, the new generation of LED projectors has received a number of interesting features. I can attribute to them – this is a rather high indicator of the brightness level of 6000 lumens. Also, an important parameter is the native Full HD resolution, the size of the projection screen from 53 to 200 inches, and many other options.

Currently, the cost of a Blitzwolf BW-VP6 projector is very tempting – about $190. Given its features and specifications, I am definitely pleased with the low price.

But is everything as good as it really is? Let me run a series of tests to find out the picture quality of the projection screen. But before talking about the quality of the picture, I propose to look at the appearance of the box and find out what configuration awaits me there.

Unboxing and packaging

The appearance of Blitzwolf packaging has not changed over the years. The projector itself comes in a fairly large box, which is made of white and green. On the front, you will not find any drawing, only the name of the company and model.

There is a wide list of items inside the box, including the projector itself, remote control, power cable, audio cable, HDMI, and even VGA cable. I was glad to see the presence of a VGA cable, as manufacturers usually do not include it in the package.

Thus, the complete set of the new model of the Blitzwolf BW-VP6 projector is quite wide. Maybe an extra carrying bag is missing here, but it can be bought separately and I think it won’t be a big problem. Ok, now I think we can talk about the build quality and the materials used.

Design, materials, and build quality

The first thing to talk about in the appearance of the new Blitzwolf BW-VP6 is its size and weight. Since this is a stationary projector, it is rather problematic to call it compact and lightweight. For example, the dimensions of the device are 300 x 225 x 130 mm, and the weight is about 2.8 kg.

If we compare the design of the BW-VP6 with the previous generation BW-VP5, then these are completely two different projectors in appearance. But I cannot say that the new generation looks bad. It’s still a stylish projector with good materials to make.

As for the assembly, it is not bad and in general, the body is made monolithic and without any problems. The Blitzwolf BW-VP6 projector is made of glossy white plastic, with a gray plate with a beautiful pattern on the front.

Let me now walk through the main elements in Blitzwolf projector design. There is an LED lens on the front of the device. The lens itself rotates in its own axis and thereby corrects the focus on the projection screen. In addition, the projector has a protective silicone cover and is required to protect it from scratches or dust. Nearby you can see an infrared sensor for the remote control.

On the left and right sides, there is one speaker with a power of 5 watts each. That is, the projector received stereo sound, but I will talk about its quality a little later. In addition, there are cooling holes on the right side of the projector.

The back of the BW-VP6 has a variety of ports. I can refer to them – these are two HDMI ports, two USB ports, AV, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. In addition, there is a VGA port, a power port, and a power button. Why the manufacturer brought it out separately from the rest of the buttons, I still do not understand. I think this was a bad idea. There are also additional openings on this site for the outlet of warm air.

On top of the projector, you can see the mechanical control buttons. Here you can select a signal source, manage settings menus, and more. That is, the control on the projector has almost the same functionality as on the remote control.

Meanwhile, in the lower part of the case, there are four anti-slip legs and a retractable stand for adjusting the angle of inclination. But I did not find holes for a tripod or for a special stand, and for me, this is a significant disadvantage.

The last thing I want to talk about is the remote control. Like most Chinese projectors or TV boxes, the appearance of the BW-VP6 has a typical design. The remote control has a small number of buttons, but there is no backlight here.

Therefore, it will be rather difficult and uncomfortable to operate in a dark room. Also note that the remote control is powered by two AAA batteries, which were not included in the kit.

Picture, sound, and settings menu quality

First of all, I set up the projector about 2.6 meters away and got a projection screen size of about 100 inches. It seemed to me that this is the most optimal size. For example, if you make the screen size larger, the brightness and contrast of the picture will be slightly worse.

In terms of cooling system noise, the Blitzwolf BW-VP6 is pretty quiet when compared to other competitors in its class. In my case, the noise from the device at a distance of a meter was about 39-40 dB. Thus, while watching movies or TV series, the noise from the projector will not disturb and distract you.

Naturally, before using the projector, you must connect to a media playback source. This projector model does not have any operating system. Therefore, I decided to connect several devices at the same time – this is a TV box and PlayStation 4.

But the basic user interface is on the BW-VP6. The main screen of the projector received four icons – these are movies, music, photos, and text. In addition, you can find the settings section. I’ve done a lot of tests on various projectors before, but the settings have absolutely identical functions. For example, you can adjust the color gamut, contrast, flip the picture, adjust the tilt angle, and much more.

This projector got a 60Hz refresh rate, so I was able to play a few games comfortably. Indeed, the native resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels will allow you to have a good time during shooters and racing. The large size of the projection screen gave me a lot of pleasure and believe me, I did not have such sensations even when testing gaming monitors or TVs.

If you watch the video on YouTube, the quality of the projection screen is very good. The brightness level on the BW-VP6 is high at around 6000 lumens and it was a pleasant surprise to me to use the projector even with the lights on. Since even in a bright room, I clearly saw the picture, while it was bright, saturated, and even contrasting.

Thus, I can say that the projection picture was not only of high quality but also had good focus across the entire screen area. Indeed, with the correct position of the projector, the projection screen showed a clear picture and without any blurring. Also, I liked the detail. If you look at a series of pictures, you will notice that all the details are clearly visible.

The last thing I wanted to talk about is the sound quality. As I mentioned, it uses stereo sound with dual 5W speakers. The sound quality is really good. For example, the volume level is very high and even at the maximum volume level, the sound did not wheeze and was clear. But the bass was pretty weak, so if you want the perfect sound, then you better use separate speakers.

Conclusion, reviews, pros, and cons

The Blitzwolf BW-VP6 is another good projector that surprised me, especially when it comes to cost and technical features.

The first thing that makes a budget projector stand out is its high brightness level, as well as its native Full HD resolution. The new generation of the projector is a full-size device, so the use of the projector will only be comfortable for home or office use. Since the weight of the projector is quite significant and transportation will be a problematic task.

In addition, this is one of the highest quality projectors that I was able to test at the beginning of 2021. It will allow you to bring a lot of emotions from the large size of the projection screen. Even in games, you will receive a number of positive emotions that were not previously experienced when you played even on a big TV.

An important parameter is also the noise from the projector. It’s pretty low here, which is good. For example, when I tested projectors with noisier cooling systems, after watching one movie, my head was splitting from the noise. I didn’t have such problems with the BW-VP6 and that’s very good.

Price and where to buy cheaper?

Currently, you can order an inexpensive and budget Blitzwolf BW-VP6 projector at a very tempting cost of only $189.99.

Therefore, I can definitely recommend this projector model for purchase. For a low price, it will give you a lot of positive emotions.
