BEELINK GS King X Review: TV box with NAS server up to 32 TB

Today I have a very incredible device on my review, namely an unusual Android TV Box called BEELINK GS King X.

Earlier, I tested many models of various TV boxes, but each of them was quite compact and lightweight. But in the case of the new BEELINK model, the opposite is true, since it received support for the HDD NAS server with up to 32 TB of memory.

The price tag for the new TV box is quite serious and at present BEELINK GS King X will cost you up to $270.

Will a BEELINK gaming TV box please me? Let me tell you my impression of build quality, performance, and more. But first of all, I want to start my test with a complete set.

Unboxing

The new king of TV boxes comes in a rather voluminous box, so the package should be interesting and extensive.

The front of the box received a sketch of the device itself with the company name, and there are also some DTS and Dolby Audio logos.

The reverse side of the box has a specs table. Here you can find all the information about the device, starting from the processor and ending with the dimensions and ports.

Inside the box, the first thing I discovered was the instructions for use, the TV box itself, which is protected by a protective foam.

The following components were equipped in a separate black box, such as a control panel, an HDMI cable, a power adapter, an 8 GB memory card, and fasteners with bolts for the HDD drive.

I was very glad to see an 8GB gift card, but the HDD is not included. The rest of the equipment is pretty good, but do not forget about a decent price tag of about $ 270.

Design

The appearance of the BEELINK GS King X is very much like a gaming device since a skull is located on the front of the case. Will it look good in your living room with a minimalist style? I think not. For me, the design is quite controversial and everyone can judge it in their own way.

The entire body is made of metal, but the front part has glossy plastic. The dimensions of the device are quite large – it is 165 x 118 x 106 mm, and the TV box weighs just over 1 kg. The build quality is at a good level and I did not find any flaws.

On top, there is a company logo and stamped letters GS, which are used to cool HDD drives.

On the front of the case is a power button, two USB 3.0, and a slot for a memory card. Here you can also see a skull with eyes burning – green or blue.

There are ventilation holes on the side ends, both on the right and left sides.

The reverse side of the TV box received the rest of all external interfaces. This is a 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones, RCA, and BAL outputs with the left and right channels. A little lower there are DC and AV ports, an HDMI connection, two more USB 3.0, S PDIF, and LAN gigabit ports.

If you unscrew a few bolts along the contour in the upper part of the rear panel of the BEELINK GS King X, then behind the metal plate are two connectors for HDD drives.

The kit includes special plates with bolts that must be attached to the HDD disk. Then you can easily install the TV box in the grooves of the housing.

In general, this model of TV box is suitable for those people who do not have enough memory to store movies, photos, music, and more. The maximum memory capacity will be up to 32 TB, which is quite a lot even for a progressive user.

Performance

The TV box received a new version of the Amlogic S922X-H processor, which runs on quad ARM Cortex-A73 cores and dual ARM Cortex-A53 cores. The Hexa-core ARM G52 MP4 GPU is pretty good for a productive TV box.

Also in BEELINK GS King X 4 GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory is already installed. The internal memory speed was 119 MB/s read and 114 MB/s write.

The first thing I want to do is to check the speed of the first launch of the TV box, which was about 19 seconds.

The appearance of the user interface is completely similar to all models of TV boxes from BEELINK. In the main menu, you can find the date, time, frequently used programs, and much more.

From the box, the GS King X TV box got a fairly wide list of already installed applications. For example, these are Chrome, Play Store, AppStore, Miracast, and much more.

The first problem for me was the launch of the Play Store. I could not enter my account, as there are most likely problems with Google services. Therefore, I install all applications through .apk files.

The first test I launched was a playback of 4K movies with 60 frames per second and H.265 format. The result is pretty obvious, as the processor performance is very good. I did not have problems with playing a video through a flash drive.

If you run a video on Youtube in 4K format, then there will be no difficulties with playback. The video shows smoothly and without any jerks.

I also tried to run several games, such as PUBG Mobile and others. Then I found out that there are no problems with playability, but the graphics in the games are pretty low.

Below I will leave some of the benchmarks for the BEELINK GS King X TV box. The results are pretty good, like for a TV box, but when compared with a mini PC, the results are not very strong.

Conclusion and Reviews

BEELINK GS King X is a large TV box, which got pretty good performance. It has both positive qualities and negative sides.
