Asus ZenWatch series is reportedly discontinued

Asus ZenWatch series is reportedly discontinued

The ZenWatch 3, launched at the IFA 2016, does not seem to have been a great success for Asus ZenWatch series. According to industry magazine DigiTimes, the Taiwanese company will probably even stop the development of additional smartwatches due to disappointing sales figures.

Smartwatches with Android Wear currently have a hard time. The operating system has only recently been overtaken by the market shares of Tizen and Android Wear 2.0 is still not the OS that awaits them on a Smartwatch. This is understandably reflected in the sales figures, which is why one of the big manufacturers might even stop developing new models.

Sales figures disappointing: Asus ZenWatch series

Asus ZenWatch series is reportedly discontinued

As the industry magazine DigiTimes reports, the sales figures of the Asus ZenWatch 3 presented at the IFA 2016 are so disappointing, that now with the thought, withdraw from the smartphone market is played. Only 5,000 to 6,000 units are sold on average a month, which, of course, is a joke when compared to the sales figures of the Apple Watch. According to estimates, in the first three months of the year, more than 1 million units were purchased.

Should the sales figures of the Asus ZenWatch 3 really be so low, the reasoning of the Taiwanese manufacturer is obviously understandable? Still, it would be a pity, the Wearables of the series always counted among the best models on the market.
