ALLDOCUBE M5: Design and Appearance
The ALLDOCUBE M5 of appearance in the analisis impresses with a unibody metal case. This is by no means common in this price range.
Usually one can be glad if the housing consists of well-processed polycarbonate. Only the cover on the back centered for the antennas and the buttons are made of the latter material.
The workmanship is as far as faultless. The frame was milled in the process and looks really noble. In addition, the entire ALLDOCUBE M5 is only 8.7mm thin and weighs 510g.
The volume and power buttons are not made of metal as mentioned above and only slightly wobble. A rattling is not heard.
On the right side of the ALLDOCUBE M5 are all ports such as 3.5mm jack port, micro SD slot, micro USB port and DC-in port.
Unfortunately, there is no mini-HDMI port. But the user gets real stereo sound because both on the right and on the left side of the ALLDOCUBE M5 in the test are speakers.
On the display front, you can see only the front camera and the white edges, which are 13mm right and left and 15mm each to the top and bottom.
To these white edges join again about 1mm thin bezels to each side. The front is only interrupted by the front camera.
The back is not very exciting either. The white ALLDOCUBE M5 has a silver back and houses the top of the camera and the previously named antenna cover. Underneath is a slightly whitish ALLDOCUBE logo and again the model name “M5”.
ALLDOCUBE M5: Display
ALLDOCUBE uses a 10.1-inch 2K IPS LCD 10-point touch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio on its M5.
So, trying to score in the low-budget segment or cheap tablet for students, but unfortunately, the quality is a little lacking and the IPS display is missing on the left side we were able to find a few halos, but the contrast and the sharpness are quite positive and currently leave no room for criticism.
The readability outdoors depends on the weather. We were only able to test the ALLDOCUBE M5 in the 7-day trial period on cloudy skies and the display was still readable.
But we can well imagine that this is due to the relatively low-acting light intensity in sunshine no longer likely to be the case.
The viewing angle stability is okay and the tablet can still be read at an angle of almost 90°. Unfortunately, it is not a fully laminated display, and this is certainly tolerable in this price category.
ALLDOCUBE M5: Hardware and Performance
That a cheap tablet PC such as the ALLDOCUBE M5 of performance can compete in all areas with middle-class or even high-end technology should be clear to everyone.
As SoC, ALLDOCUBE M5 has a Mediatek Helio X20 MT6797 was selected, which owns a 2.1Ghz Decacore CPU, as well as an ARM Mali-T880 MP4 GPU.
Add to that almost neat 4GB LPDDR3 of RAM and 64GB internal memory, which in turn is expandable by another 128GB via Micro SD card.
ALLDOCUBE M5 is running Android 8.0, not Windows. The latter would be hopelessly under-challenged by the low 4GB of memory.
All in all, the system runs moderately smooth on the ALLDOCUBE M5. What do we have to imagine?
Well, the performance is good, so that apps open with smooth.
Games like Asphalt 8 Airborne, Dead Trigger 2 and Modern Combat 5 are only playable on the midrange detail levels.
But the ALLDOCUBE M5 in the test is not aimed at gamers, but at the group of users who use the tablet for reading, watching the video or the Internet.
Videos can even be played smoothly in 4K format (H.264, H.265, mkv). The tablet gets a little warm under load but never gets hot.
ALLDOCUBE M5: Software
The ALLDOCUBE M5 of the operating system in our analisis comes with new Android 8.0, which is kept up to date via OTA updates. During our trial, there were two minor updates.
The system is tidy, free of bloatware and as far as recognizably free of viruses or Trojans.
The only app that was not open until now was the game Asphalt 8, which is, unfortunately, the case with many China devices lately (Xiaomi Mi Pad 3, Meizu Pro 7 Plus).
Otherwise, all test apps, benchmarks, and other games worked without problems. The Play Store is preinstalled and the system language is individually adjustable.
Since the front of the ALLDOCUBE M5 has no physical buttons, on-screen buttons have been implemented in the system. By default, it houses a screenshot button, volume up and volume down buttons, a back button, and a home button.
ALLDOCUBE M5: Connectivity
The ALLDOCUBE M5 in our test has a dual-band WLAN module which can spark in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz band.
The WLAN reception is stable so far. The throughput rates in the 2.4GHz band are about 45-50Mbps in the download.
ALLDOCUBE M5: Audio
The ALLDOCUBE M5 has true stereo sound, with speakers installed on both sides. In the low-cost segment, this too is not a matter of course.
The potential buyer can look forward to pleasant sound. The audio output is quite reasonable and one or the other movie you can already look at the ALLDOCUBE.
The musical output depends heavily on the genre. Trance and dance sound better than classical music. Since the speakers simply lack a higher frequency spectrum.
The maximum volume is absolutely sufficient. Also, the microphone quality is acceptable for this price range, albeit far from perfect.
ALLDOCUBE M5: Cameras
The 5MP main camera produces less useful pictures and videos. Whoever expects quality here will be disappointed.
Macro shots and landscape shots are a sheer farce and are enough, if at all, for a minimalist impression. The video quality leaves much to be desired, although the autofocus was moderate.
The 2.0MP front camera does it the same as the main camera. Hardly usable images and even less useful videos.
Even for video telephony, the quality is no longer sufficient by today’s standards. In addition, especially with the main camera problems with the dynamics and inadequate ISO adjustment.
We have this time on a variety of picture and video materials omitted because we simply the time was too bad.
ALLDOCUBE M5: Battery
The ALLDOCUBE M5 of light and cheap tablet is advertised with a 6600mAh battery. This puts us in the tolerance range. The indication of the 7-hour playing time of videos is also correct.
The pure screen-on time is about 7.5 hours with the brightness set to 50%. At 100%, we came to just under 5 hours.
The video playback time is good 4 hours at 80% brightness. Overnight (10 hours) the ALLDOCUBE M5 loses just 4-5% charge in standby.
Via MicroUSB cable and 2A power adapter, the charging time is about 2.5 – 3 hours. This is of course extremely do not long and we would have liked a stronger included DC power supply or fast charging at the USB port.
ALLDOCUBE M5: Conclusions and Reviews
The tablet ALLDOCUBE M5 in our review showed itself on the positive side, in which there are all possible functions and characteristics for both the middle class of the tablet in 2018.
The strengths are clearly the price, the good appearance, the relatively lightweight unibody metal housing, the satisfying 2K display with 2560 x 1600 pixels, the stereo speakers and the dual-band WLAN, 4G and GPS functions. We see weaknesses in the cameras.
All in all, we can safely give a buy recommendation for those who play with the tablet ALLDOCUBE M5 only undemanding games, watch videos or just want to read eBooks. Also for daily retrieving emails, this tablet is quite suitable. For $100 you get a complete package.
ALLDOCUBE M5: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
At the moment you can already buy tablet ALLDOCUBE M5 at a good discount, but it will not last long, the usual price is $210, but now you can take for $189.99. So this is a good offer for a modern tablet with all the features for 2018.
